Values Curriculum

Aspiration

We are encouraging our children to think big, believe in themselves and recognise that, with determination, resilience and the right support, they can achieve their goals.

Children will have opportunities across our wider curriculum to learn about inspiring and aspirational people from a range of backgrounds, professions and experiences. Our children will discover the stories of remarkable individuals including Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing, Junko Tabei and Alexa Canady, exploring their achievements, the challenges they faced and the qualities that helped them succeed. These stories encourage children to think about their own strengths, talents, dreams and aspirations for the future.

Aspiration is woven into many aspects of school life, including our soft starts, values reflection time, assemblies and Jigsaw PSHE lessons. Our assemblies will feature aspirational stories and people linked to our protected characteristics, helping children to celebrate diversity, challenge stereotypes and understand that everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Careers Day gives pupils the opportunity to meet and learn from people working in a wide range of careers. We are particularly grateful to the many parents who will be getting involved and sharing their experiences with our children.

We want every child at Arlies to develop the confidence to say “I can”, to recognise their own strengths and talents and to understand that their future is full of possibilities.
