Miscellaneous

Money

Any monies sent into school must be in a separate, labelled and named envelope with your child's class number on.

Charging Policy

The school has a charging policy (copies available from the school office) which states that parents will be asked to make a voluntary contribution towards the costs of educational visits. No child will be denied the right to go on a trip, due to inability to pay. However, if insufficient money is collected, the visit may have to be cancelled. Parents will also be asked to pay for any non-accidental damage in school and for the loss/damage to any reading books.

Medicines

We can neither give medicines in school, nor supervise children taking medicine, unless for chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, epilepsy and so on. If your child is well enough to be in school, but needs to be given medicine during the day for a temporary period, please contact school to make arrangements for an adult to come to school to administer it.

If your child has one of the illnesses mentioned above, or any other, which requires regular daily medication, please discuss the treatment required with the Head Teacher. It is most helpful if we have a written record of your child's requirements. Any such medicines kept in school should be clearly marked with your child's name and class and should be replaced before the expiry date.

Head Lice

In recent years, the incidence of headlice amongst our children has increased as it has in most other schools. This has caused us to rethink our policy on headlice as more safeguards are needed.

The school's position on this is as follows:

  1. The school has a responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all children while they are in school.
  2. It is the school's practice to inform, in confidence, the parents of a child of specific concerns, and to inform other parents within the same class (without identifying individuals) so that all parents can be aware and take appropriate action whenever necessary.
  3. We expect any affected children to be treated overnight and for them to return to school the following day.

Lost property

Please make sure that all your child's belongings are clearly named as otherwise it is difficult to trace children's clothing, etc. We keep a Lost Property box but this is emptied regularly as it becomes an eyesore. At intervals, we will display lost property for collection and any not claimed is then recycled. Items of recycled uniform can be purchased for a small donation.

Communication

Like all schools, we send out letters to parents at various times during each school term. If you need an extra copy please call at the office. We would ask that you let us know of any major changes / events in your child's life which may affect their behaviour in school.
In addition, we do use text facility for some important messages/reminders.
