Kung hei fat choy! Happy New Year! In Foundation Stage we are celebrating Chinese New Year with lots of creative activities. These include making Chinese paper lanterns, mark making in red and gold sand, as well as using fine paint brushes to write Chinese lettering. Keep a look out for more photos as we will be tasting a variety of Chinese food and creating a Chinese restaurant in our home corner.

Christmas Making Day

Christmas has well and truly arrived in Reception! We have been decorating the classroom and dressing up as snowmen and elves J

Instead of a having a traditional Christmas tree this year decorated with tinsel and baubles we decided to create a ‘wishing tree’. We all wrote our Christmas wish on a star and hung it on the Christmas tree.

In Foundation Stage, we have been celebrating Diwali, ‘The festival of light.’ We made coconut barfi sweets. They were delicious!

Reception love the 3 R’s; reduce, reuse and recycle. We have been using a variety of ‘junk’ to create models in our class junk modelling area. Take a look at our cars, rockets, handbags and much more!

We love transient art in Reception.  We took the opportunity on our ‘Autumn Hunt’ to collect a variety of autumn objects to create our pictures. It develops our creative imagination, knowledge and understanding of the world and enables us to explore a range of natural materials in a sensory way.

Following instructions to make a sandwich

We have been spreading, chopping, slicing and grating a variety of healthy foods to create our favourite sandwich.

Reception have been celebrating Harvest. One of the many exciting activities included baking flapjacks. They were delicious!!!!

Reception have been braving the autumnal weather by going on an ‘Autumn Hunt’ to look for signs of Autumn. We found many interesting things on our walk, including; blackberries, squirrels, pine cones and brown leaves.

In Literacy, we are learning Nursery Rhymes. We are making videos of us singing ‘Humpty Dumpty’ using props.

As part of our class topic, ‘Ourselves,’ we are learning about the five senses. The class took part in a food tasting session. Foods included; bitter lemon, salty popcorn and sweet chocolate. We had lots of fun!

Settling in to our new class!
